KARACHI (web desk) Suspended SSP Rao Anwar appeared in court on Saturday as the anti-terrorism court (ATC) resumed hearing of the Naqeebullah murder case.
During the court proceedings, government lawyers refused to accept suspended senior police official Qamar Ahmed’s bail plea.
It is pertinent to mention that jail authorities did not follow procedure while presenting Anwar in court. The special treatment given to the accused came to light when all suspects were brought to court in orange jackets except Anwar. According to prison laws, all inmates involved in trials are supposed to wear the jacket.
The hearing has been adjourned till May 28 and the court ordered the police to produce the copy of the CDs which contain proof. Sources among the government lawyers at the ATC have revealed that state’s prosecution counsel, Ali Raza, claims that he’s been receiving death threats.
Sources further added that Raza will not be present during the trial of the case due to influence from Anwar. Other government counsels took Raza’s place today in the hearing.
